At this museum, life-size figures, rare artefacts and state-of-the-art technology bring the sights, sounds and smells of bygone Singapore to life.Singapore’s history from the 14th century to the early 20th century is recreated with life-size figures in the Pioneers of Singapore museum.

You can recount Singapore’s maritime history through the eyes of a Chinese merchant, come face-to-face with charismatic personalities like Sir Stamford Raffles, relive Singapore darkest hours at the Surrender Chambers, or simply celebrate with us as we recreate the rituals, festivals and cultural practices of the Chinese, Malays, Indians and Peranakans in their full glory.

Experience the battle of Malaya and Singapore in the Surrender Chambers which depicts Singapore during the war years of 1941 to 1945. Festivals of Singapore showcases the cultural heritage of Singapore. Set in the 1950s and 1960s, exhibits introduce the various customs and traditions of the different ethnic groups in Singapore – the Chinese, Malay, Indian and Peranakans.
