Education Experience of Study in Singapore Sports School
The Singapore Sports School was created in 2004 to enable athletes to pursue their sports and studies at the same time without giving up either. It was also a springboard to nurturung a greater interest in sports at the youth level and developing potential sthletes to become sports professionals. The school is the only one in Singapore that connects sports and academic studues closely and systematically by offering a flexible academic environment that is customised to student sporting demands.
I a short span of its education experience, the Singapore Sports School has produced many record holders of major international events and distinction holders in major academic examinations. 2007 was a record year fot Singapore Sports School when 17 of its athletes represented Singapore in the 24th South East Asia Games and ten of its secondary 4 students scored at least five distinctions in their GCE ‘O’ Level Examinations.
The Singapore Sports School specialises in nine sports (badminton, bowling, golf, sailing, soccer, swimming, table tennis and track & field). Each of them has its own academy headed by a General Manager or Head Coach who has vast education experiences as an athlete and in sports training.
