Culture and Heritage Holidays Experience at The Padang Singapore

Culture Heritage Holidays Experience Padang Singapore

The Padang Singapore – the field in front of Esplanade Park – is rich in cultural and historical significance. It was the site of many National Day parades, including the first parade of the newly independent Republic of Singapore in 1965. A place where you can feel the culture and heritage of Singapore holidays experience.

Ringed by imposing colonial façades, there are few more obvious symbols of British imperialism than the Padang’s manicured lawns. Defying the tropical heat, the Singapore Cricket Club (est. 1852) struts its stuff to choruses of ‘Huzzah!’ and ‘Cracking shot old bean!’ from the members’ pavilion. Rugby, bowls and football get an airing during the off-season.

Today, the Padang is a popular venue for recreational sports such as football, hockey, cricket and rugby, line dancing, as well as hosts major sporting events such as One Day Internationals, Twenty20 matches, and Rugby Sevens.
